2026 REAL Fathers Learning Convening
HOLD Uganda, as a key implementing partner recently attended the 2026 REAL Fathers Learning Convening hosted by the Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development and organized by the Impact and Innovations Development Center held at Hotel Africana on February 4th and 5th 2026.

Responsible, Engaged, and Loving (REAL) Fathers is an evidence-based, community-led program in Uganda mentoring men aged 16 – 25 years to reduce intimate partner violence and child abuse through fostering child play between father and child. The initiative promotes non-violent, positive parenting and healthy relationships through 12-session curricula and community engagement to foster supportive, nurturing homes.
HOLD Uganda, as a key implementer of the REAL Fathers Program in the Busoga Region has a vital role in;
- Targeting the right demographic: young fathers between the ages of 16 and 25, particularly first-time fathers of children aged below 4 years
- Utilizing the mentorship model where older, more experienced men mentor and train the younger fathers in their communities
HOLD Uganda aims to achieve the same goals and objectives of the program namely:
- Reduce and eventually prevent violence against children and women
- Improve early childhood development
- Encourage active male involvement in childcare
- Improve family welfare in general
